The Uptown/Downtown dress comes in 9 sizes: 2T-10
This knit dress is fitted in the chest and has a perfect twirly flare in the hips.
It is a professionally drafted pattern with clear cutting lines and illustrated instructions.
The instructions include tips and tricks for sewing knits, making this pattern great for a beginner.
There are several options for the dress.
The bodice can be lined or you can do a single layer with bias tape neck binding.
3 sleeve options: sleeveless, short sleeves, or 1/2 sleeves.
You can even make the entire dress reversible!
I wanted to really jazz it up, so I decided to go for color block.
I traced Ali's size on tracing paper then made a cut for the bodice, then cut the skirt portion in half.
Instead of cutting a lining bodice, I cut two of my front and back pieces.
*If you decide to color block, remember to add seam allowances on the bottom of the bodice, top and bottom of the mid section and the top of the bottom section!*
I sewed the bodice as instructed, but did not finish the the bodice bottom.
Next, sew the mid section and bottom together. Finally, sew the top of the mid section to the bottom of the bodice -including the bodice lining!
I chose to not hem the bottom.
Ali Cat really loves her Uptown/Downtown dress!
and I love when she goes to school and tells everyone "mommy made it"!
Want a chance to own the pattern for free? Of course you do!
